In this Power BI tutorial, you’ll learn some advanced formatting tricks for small multiples visuals. By default, you are only able to sort small multiples by the name of the item in the small multiples field. With this trick, you’ll be able to sort via any calculation or logic you would like to apply.
After we cover the custom sorting, we quickly learn how to set up pagination on the visual. I tend to like “pages” of visuals as opposed to a scrollbar when too many items overflow the visual. You can apply this to any visual you want, though it looks great with small multiples visuals 😁
I hope you enjoyed learning this advanced trick! If you liked it, make sure to check out my Training courses here. All memberships grant you access to a live SQL Server database to practice Power BI!

Awesome Parker 🙂
However, the small multiple is fixed as 6 per page. I created a slicer to pick x values per page and a dynamic measure to calculate the page numbers but, of course, x values per page affects the number of pages in the page number slicer – and I cannot make the page number slicer read a dynamic measure as it only accepts fields.
ie 12 rows at 4 per page = 1 to 3 in the page slicer
12 rows at 6 per page = 1 to 2 in the page slicer
There must be a neat way to load dynamic measure values into a slicer. It seems to be more of a challenge than I expected and Google is no help.
